Community Planning

Working together to develop a better understanding of how to plan and look after each other in the event of a bushfire.

Apollo Bay Surf Lifesaving Club

Our partnership with the Apollo Bay Surf Lifesaving Club (ABSLC) is the cornerstone to our community planning. The ABLSC is the perfect venue to act as the triage location for our community in the event of bushfire.  Not only is this venue located on the Apollo Bay foreshore in the centre of town, but it also has volunteers trained in first aid and committee members working in the fields of Emergency Management.

In our community planning, the ABSLC will play a major role for communication between the Local Command Facility (LCF) at Apollo Bay Fire Brigade and other local venues such as Great Ocean Road Health and the Apollo Bay Seniors Hall (Wheelan Street). As the main port of communication, it will support the community with bushfire updates and local information, be a place for hydration and medical support.
